Sodium Carbonate (CO₃²⁻) Sodium Nitrite (NO₂⁻) Sodium Sulfide (S²⁻) Sodium Chloride (Cl⁻) [Control]

2. Observation

Visible Gas/State None

Status: Standby.
Select a solid salt. Dilute Sulfuric Acid will be added. Observe the evolution of gas, its color, and any associated odors.

3. Chemical Principles

Dilute Acid Group: Includes Carbonate, Sulfide, Sulfite, Nitrite, and Acetate.

Dilute acids decompose these salts to produce characteristic gases. If no gas evolves at room temperature or gentle warming, the anion belongs to the concentrated acid group or independent group.
