3. Chemical Principles

1. Carbonate Formation: The salt reacts with Sodium Carbonate to form a metallic carbonate.
2. Decomposition: Heating decomposes the carbonate into a metallic oxide.
3. Reduction: The Carbon from the charcoal block (and CO gas from the reducing flame) reduces the metal oxide to the free metal (Bead/Scales) or leaves an oxide residue (Incrustation).
