Select a salt. In Step 1, Potassium Dichromate (K₂Cr₂O₇) and Conc. H₂SO₄ will be added to the solid salt and heated.
3. Chemical Principles
Step 1: Chlorides react with K₂Cr₂O₇ and conc. H₂SO₄ to form red-orange vapors of Chromyl Chloride (CrO₂Cl₂). Step 2: These vapors dissolve in NaOH to form a yellow solution of Sodium Chromate (Na₂CrO₄). Step 3: Addition of Lead Acetate forms a bright yellow precipitate of Lead Chromate (PbCrO₄).
