A clean Platinum wire loop will be dipped into Borax powder and heated to form a glassy, transparent bead.

3. Chemical Principles

1. Bead Formation: Borax swells and melts into a transparent glass consisting of Sodium Metaborate and Boric Anhydride.
Na₂B₄O₇·10H₂O → 2NaBO₂ + B₂O₃ + 10H₂O

2. Colored Metaborates: Transition metals react with B₂O₃ to form distinctively colored metal metaborates. Colors vary drastically depending on the metal, the temperature (Hot vs. Cold), and the flame type (Oxidizing vs. Reducing).
